The Invitations are Arriving….
Happy Holidays!
I trust everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday. How many of you shopped the day after on Black Monday? Who was up and out at midnight? I sure hope you got realllllly good bargains.
Invitations to parties and other holiday events are arriving fast and furiously this time of year. Do any of these thoughts ring a bell?
· “I do not like this event and really do not want to go…but I have to”
· “I wonder how he/she will come dressed this year.”
· “Great reason to buy a new outfit”
· “I will not do what I did last year (fill in the blank)”
· “Hope the boss does not give their long ten minute toast or the half hour year in review talk”
And the list could continue for miles.
This is a time of year when we are pulled and tugged in a lot of different directions; however, it is a time to enjoy. A time to thank those people who have helped you throughout the year, meet new people, and reconnect with others you do not see often. Here are several thoughts to keep our image in tact:
- Please reply to the invitations, it is considerate to the host or hostess and helps with the planning. You want to make sure there are plenty of cocktail wieners and refreshments right?
- Conservative dress is the better choice no matter the occasion, especially the office party.
- Holiday ties are festive but leave the one that blinks or sings at home especially if it is the office or a professional party.
- Inform your spouse or individual who is accompanying you who specific people are that will be at the event…such as your boss.
- Place several mints (not gum) in your pocket to ensure pleasant breath throughout the evening.
- Mingle, do not camp out next to the bar or food stations (I know you love the cheese ball but you must share).
- Check your attitude at the door, slap that smile on your face, and enjoy!
What other suggestions do you have to add to the list?
Happy Holidays!
